CALIFORNIA HIGH-SPEED RAIL
PALMDALE - BURBANK
CAL POLY POMONA
Civil Engineering Senior Project - 2016

Station Locations
Palmdale
The Palmdale high-speed rail station location was chosen due to its proximity to the Palmdale Transportation Center, which offers connection between the Antelope Valley Transit Authority local and commuter bus service, Metrolink commuter rail service, Santa Clarita Transit, Greyhound bus service, and Amtrak Throughway bus service. Minimal community and environmental impact were also taken into consideration.

Access to and from the station will be through the use of an ADA Accessible pedestrian overpass bridge. This bridge will also be constructed to safely connect the high-speed rail station with the Palmdale Transportation Center. Additional parking facilities will be constructed to accommodate the expected ridership growth.

Burbank
The Burbank high-speed rail station location was chosen due to its proximity to the Burbank Regional Intermodal Transportation Center (BRITC) and Bob Hope Airport. Between these two centers, commuters have access to both Metrolink and Amtrak trains, Metro, Burbank, and various shuttle busses, as well as commercial airport carriers such as Alaska, Delta, JetBlue, Southwest, United, and US Airways. 11 different rental car companies are also accessible to commuters. Other factors for this location also include low potential for community and environmental impacts and proximity to commercial and industrial developments.

The Burbank high-speed rail station is located underground in order to minimize potential impacts to surrounding facilities including Bob-Hope Airport. Access will be through the use of stairs and ADA accessible elevators. Additional parking facilities will be constructed to accommodate expected ridership growth.
